Question : dcpromo error

I am trying to dcpromo a server down to a member server and remove it from the domain, and replace a failing hard drive.
 It is a DC,GC and a DNS server.  DNS is AD integrated.  
I have another DC that is a GC, DNS and FSMO server.
During the dcpromo demotion I recieved the following error:

event id 5808
The deregistration of some DNS domain controller locator records was aborted at the time of this domain controller demotion because the DNS deregistration took too long.
USER ACTION
Manually delete the DNS records listed in the file %system root%\System32\Config\Netlogon.dns from the DNS database.

I cancelled the dcpromo and the DC is back up but when I run a netdiag the DNS test fails.  I need to remove this server from the domain.  Any help appreciated.  Thanks

Answer : dcpromo error
