Question : PXE slow image transfer
|
|
Hi guys,
Image size < 1.44MB The transfer is done with Jounin's TFTP v3.03 Duplex or non-duplex settings do not matter on this 1 to 1 environment (I've tried it). The 3com NIC has a PXE boot EEPROM that can be configured to boot at 10MB or 100MB. The connection is done in a simple topology: 3COM switch/Cross-Over PXE SERVER ----------------------------------------------- PXE CLIENT
When the motherboard is connected to a 10MB 3com NIC through a cross over. The transfer period lasts between 1-2 seconds. When the motherboard is connected to a 10MB 3com NIC through a 3com 2226 Baseline switch. The transfer period lasts for 5 to 15 mins. When the motherboard is connected to a 100MB 3com NIC through a 3com 2226 Baseline switch. The transfer period lasts for 1-2 seconds.
The problem clearly lies on the switch. Is there any configurations that are misssing? such as spanning tree, link aggregation, igmp snooping, igmp query, broadcast storm.
Thanks.
Regards, chobo

Sounds like a duplex issue to me. the 10Mb card probably is negotiating to half-duplex when it needs to be full-duplex. Check for a mismatch also.
