Question : PXE slow image transfer

Hi guys,

Image size < 1.44MB
The transfer is done with Jounin's TFTP v3.03
Duplex or non-duplex settings do not matter on this 1 to 1 environment (I've tried it).
The 3com NIC has a PXE boot EEPROM that can be configured to boot at 10MB or 100MB.
The connection is done in a simple topology:

                                    3COM switch/Cross-Over
PXE SERVER  ----------------------------------------------- PXE CLIENT

When the motherboard is connected to a 10MB 3com NIC through a cross over. The transfer period lasts between 1-2 seconds.
When the motherboard is connected to a 10MB 3com NIC through a 3com 2226 Baseline switch. The transfer period lasts for 5 to 15 mins.
When the motherboard is connected to a 100MB 3com NIC through a 3com 2226 Baseline switch. The transfer period lasts for 1-2 seconds.

The problem clearly lies on the switch. Is there any configurations that are misssing? such as spanning tree, link aggregation, igmp snooping, igmp query, broadcast storm.

Thanks.

Regards,
chobo

Answer : PXE slow image transfer

Sounds like a duplex issue to me.  the 10Mb card probably is negotiating to half-duplex when it needs to be full-duplex.  Check for a mismatch also.
