Question : Can you scan documents over a network?
|
|
Hi,
Our company is trying to reach that "ever elusive" paperless office. We have a question out at the moment asking about software, but this has raised another question...
"can we scan documents via the Local Area Network on one PC to a scan program on another pc?" (exactly like printer sharing but in reverse - (it seem logical that it must be possible considering the communication is equally quick receiving and transmitting).
Any ideas? - It either that or we have sheet feed scanners on all the pcs!

I don't think they offer a "trial" downloadable version of sharpdesk... but to give you some basic info on their various software packages, depending on your needs:
http://www.sharpusa.com/products/docsolutions/sharp_desk/ ~ More of a personal doc filing system (sent to desktops) http://www.sharpusa.com/products/docsolutions/liberty_doc2net/ ~ Network Filing System (sent to network storage)
You need to probably contact a local sharp authorized dealer. Theres a zip code finder at the bottom of the above link to find one. The software only works with sharp equipment, so that may be a drawback for you, but it actually works well for us having an authorized dealer/experts that know the equipment should there be a problem with it. The authorized dealer might also might be able to let you try out a sharp system to see if its what you need or not, some offer lease deals, so you could lease the scanner for a month and test it on a few users to see if it would work for you.
Hope that helps.
Ryan
