Question : MSN messenger block
|
|
Hi guys,
I want to block msn messenger 7 and below on my network. I dont have much experience with the cisco pix (which is our firewall), so im looking for a solution that does not involve the blocking of ports on our firewall if at all possible.
any ideas greatly appreciated
Kind regards

Answer : MSN messenger block

not only webmessenger.msn.com but others like messengerfx.com ebuddy.com msn2go.com...
The ultimate solution is to use url blocking and let people install and run msn if they really want but block and break DNS resolution by adding dud entires for the addresses the messengers use and for all these and other websites to your AD DNS servers. That or configure url blocking on your routers/firewalls.
So blocking URLS and/or remote servers is the ultimate solution. Ports or programs isn't enough and GPO etc is futile..
