What are the options for ssytem wide speed dial with asterisk pbx?

Answer : VoIP Asterisk Speed dial

You have two options :-


1) Use asterisks Directory() command. You can program a particular extension number to run this command and people get asked to enter the first 3 characters of the persons last name. They then get played the name and can choose to dial that user or go onto the next match. The downside of this is it is more time consuming and you cannot simply lookup someones extension.

2) Create an XML file and configure all the phones to use it. You can use XML to populate the phones built in directory. You will need to refer to the Polycom website for the technical information on exactly how to do this.
