Question : Tracking Mobile Phones to an area

Experts,

Looking for some information regarding the possibility of tracking a mobile phone and checking if it is in the area of a  particular store/shop.

I have limited knowledge of this area but I have done some reading and thinking of using GPS enabled mobile phones.
Read that its called "definer/launcher" service - GSM Association PRD SE.23

Is this possible? Do you know of any examples of this idea in use??

Hi,
I think its better to first decide which mobile segments you want to concentrate on coz there are lots of phone manufacturers who have their own OS'es where in such services would not even exist.ITs better to concentrate on smartphone segment first which would usually have such capabilities.You can start with Windows Mobile or Palm or Symbian your choice.
As far as Symbian is conerned there are lots of API's which provide LBS and then there is GPS and AGPS, listing them out here would not be possible.
