Question : Windows 2003 RRAS Client DNS Registration problem
Situation: Windows 2003 DC with single NIC (static IP address) behind a firewall. PPTP is port mapped from the firewall into the DC and RRAS is running on the DC. Client establishes a VPN connection and works great. However after a while internal clients are unable to connect to the DC. Looked in DNS and found that the VPN client's IP address is registered in DNS as the server's name in addition to the correct IP address. Set RRAS to not use DHCP, but instead use a static pool and set the NIC properties of the DC to not register in DNS. Still has the same problem!!!
I'm sure that this is an easy fix but I can't figure this sucker out. Any ideas?
