Question : Replace Antenna on Linksys wrt55ag Router
|
|
I need more range on my Wireless router; the only problem is antennas are not detachable. I was thinking about popping this sucker open and added a standard Antenna connector.
Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks David Grossman

You might want to try the forums at http://netstumbler.org/forumdisplay.php?f=23 Most of those wireless routers do not have detachable antennas and you removing it will most likely break it. Some of the cisco AP's have special connectors that the antenna screws into and where you can attach a higher gain antenna.
what one person did was instead of adding a bigger antenna, he modified the current ones by adding parobolic reflectors on them, doesn't void warranty or change anything directly to the AP, just add a dish around the main antenna. check out the site for instructions: http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template/
