Question : Cannot connect to company network with VPN client over 3G
|
|
Hi,
I am currently working off site with a team of ten people. Normally, we can plug into a clients connection and then VPN into our copmany network to check emails etc. The client we are working at the moment refuses to allow us internet access for security reasons etc., so instead we connect via a 3G router on Vodafone network. The internet is surprisingly reliable and fast considering the connection is shared, but we cannot use our Cisco VPN client to connect to our company network. Do we need to open ports on our router? If so, which ones? Could it be the firewall on the router? We use a Novatel Ovation router. I have asked our IT dept but they haven't solved the problem and I have had lots of luck on the past with this excellent website so was wondering if anyone had any suggestions....
On another note, the router resets itself every hour or so...slight pain in the ass but if anyone has a suggestion to fix that it would be cool also...
Muchos gratias

>>"IT guy got back to me and said that my APN should actually be "MyLan"" How did it get changed on all the machines?
>>"Any suggestions on this problem with this new info to light?" Pretty hard to say with out hands on. One possibility is the IPSec service, in the services management console, enabled or at least set to automatic?
