well i did some research on your laptop and unfortunatley have bad news. your laptop has a on-board video chip instead of a removable model. there is no way to change the video card on this model laptop :(
genuine Windows® XP Professional; Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3300+ (128KB L2 cache, 2.0GHz, up to 1600MHz system bus); 512MB (256/256) DDR333 SDRAM; 80GB hard drive; integrated CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive; 15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800) TFT display with Acer® CrystalBrite Technology; SiSM760GX chipset with integrated Mirage2 graphics; 802.11b/g WLAN, 10/100 LAN, V.92 modem
(the description there might be a little different from what you have, they sold this laptop with 6 different available options. all are 1600mhz, i dont see a 1.8ghz model for the aspire 3000.
there are not any USB video cards available and even if there were, it would be extremely slow due to the comparably slow speeds between USB2 and AGP.
sorry guy... i would reccomend buying a barebones PC kit and slap a nice video card and RAM in there... shouldnt cost you more than $200
