Question : Can't reconnect network drive in Vista

I have a couple network drives mapped in Vista to a network hard drive but I can't connect to them anymore.  The network hard drive shows up in the Network window along with my PC, but when I double click on it I receive the message "Windows Cannot Access \\BackupDrive.  Check the spelling of the name, etc."  I am able to ping the hard drive, I'm even able to login to the built in Web Adminstration on the hard drive but I can't access the folders on it.  Does anyone have any idea why?  I am using Windows OneCare as my firewall, I have tried turning it off, I've checked all my sharing settings and everything is set to share and to make my computer discoverable, etc.  I'm at a loss.

Answer : Can't reconnect network drive in Vista

While you may have all the correct settings on for the file share itself you may not have file sharing enabled under Vista.

Go to the "network and sharing center" in vista and make sure that file sharing is on. if it is on we can look to other probable issues.

to get to this, go to the control panel and  click on Network and Internet and you will see it listed under that.
