Question : Multiplayer games on a Wireless LAN.

I used to have two PCs with 10/100 NICs, a 3m length of twisted pair CAT5, and a copy of Diablo 2. Hours of fun!

Then I got broadband and decided to share it out…

The broadband modem is connected to the wireless router.
The wireless router is connected to the main PC with a cable.
The other PC has a wireless card (with antenna)
The Laptop has a built in PCMCIA do-hickey.

It’s been a while since I set all this up but I remember connecting to the router through 192.168.2.1 or something, and entering my broadband service providers settings.

I can’t remember what I did on the PC and Laptop to get them up and running.  It must have been a real “do-it-once-and-then-forget-about-it-because-it-just-works” thing! So I have internet access on all the machines, with fast speeds and clear signals.

Any way, when each machine is switched on it tries to connect to the wireless router.  Then the wireless router assigns each machine an IP address when requested.

I tried setting up a home network (file and printer sharing) over the wireless network but I can’t get it going.  I added all the machines to “MyWorkgroup” and gave them different names (Alpha, Beta, etc).  But I can’t even ping one machine from the other!

What am I missing here?  All the tutorials on the web only seem to show you how to share broadband internet access over a wireless home network.  I want to get multiplayer games working on my new network, any pointers?

Answer : Multiplayer games on a Wireless LAN.

No, nor did I. Seems like a good comprehensive unit though. When you were oon the site, did you notice the revision of your firmware?
Also, can you see both wireless devices in the status and dhcp tables?

If you perform an ipconfig /all, what are the results that you get on each of the wireless machines?
Are you pinging by the IP address or by the name?
