Question : VPN Connected but Losing Internet connection in the Office.
|
|
Hi,
Our office has a Netgear FVX538 Pro safe VPN Firewall. I've set up a VPN connection for remote client access using the Netgear VPN client software. Everything works fine, i can connect to the office network and RDP to the individual workstations.
My problems is that everytime a remote client connects to the office network, the Internet in the Office disappears. Nothing happens on the remote side, i can still connect to the office network which tells me that the internet connection is working fine but how come the workstations in the office lose their internet connections? to return their internet connection, i have to unplug and replug the router.
So what am i missing or doing wrong?
Our setup is:
Modem -- Netgear VPN Router -- windows 2003 server \ workstations
Thanks!

That was an assumed option on my part, looking at a different model sorry.
I have to admit I do not know the solution, but it is an interesting problem. There is was a similar unresolved question recently. Since I am somewhat familiar with a couple of the Netgers and use the ProSafe/SafeNet client often, I though I would jump in and add my 2¢ worth, to see if I can offer some different suggestions. I must say with the Dual WAN port options, this unit is quite unique with it's VPN configuration.
Make sure you local domain name does not conflict with the domain names chosen for the VPN connection. Are you using roll-over or load balancing mode ? If there is an option to use a single WAN port I would go that route until working , but I don't see that in the manual. Also are the IP's static or dynamic at either end of the tunnel?
One thought might be to try to assign the VPN client an IP in a different subnet using the Mode Config option. I haven't used this but instructions can be found at: http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/N101459.asp
