Question : Cisco VPN - Windows XP
|
|
I'm trying to vpn into my work pc from my laptop. From my PC I have no problem doing this at all and both machines have the Cisco VPN software set up exactly th esame way. both machines have the same version too (4.4).
I have norton internet security installed but i've switched it off. I've also switched off the windows xp firewall.
I can even ping the vpn server from the laptop! The only difference between the setup on the laptop and pc is that the laptop is running xp home while the pc is running xp pro.
I can't think of anything more to check.
Any ideas?

Some versions of Norton's internet security does not stop blocking, even when you disable it. You will have to go into the Computer Manager, Device Manager. Then select from the View menu, Show Hidden Devices. Then from the Non-Plug and Play Drivers, find anything that is Norton, Symantec, or is obviously firewall related (for example, "NAVxxx" or "SYMxxx") and disable the device drivers. Reboot and try again. You should be able to connect now.
