Question : wireless network to cover house and cottage approx 300 ft away

I have a customer who is looking to set up a wireless network so a cottage house is included with wireless and network access.
1. house right now has a wired direct to dsl connection to an xp pc, no other pc or notebook in the house.
2. cottage (300ft away) has a laptop and a tower pc that are on dial up right now.

they would like to send a wireless siginal to the cottage and get all units onto high speed.

older house that affects siginal and 1 tree in between the two. I have set up several wireless networks but this one looks like it is just to long  for the extender solution. looking for some direction to go for the most reliable solution for arround $200.00-$250.00

That is a tall order for $200. That purchased my commercial Netopia wireless router (in round numbers) and it covers my entire house (basement and 2 floors) but does not extend 50 feet away from the house.

What about putting a good quality ethernet cable in the ground from the house to the cottage and then putting a wireless router in the cottage connected to the main router via the ethernet cable. ... Thinkpads_User
