Question : Cannot map a network drive
Hi,
This is the environment:
Desktop Vista 64 (computer name = Daddy) (hardwired to the U-Verse Residential Gateway (RG))
Windows XP Pro Wireless
Windows XP Home Wireless
All 3 systems in same workgroup
All 3 systems are identified by RG
All 3 systems can access the Internet
XP Pro can access the shared files sitting on Desktop Vista 64
XP HOME CAN NOT ACCESS THE SHARED FILES ON DESKTOP VISTA 64.
I tried (from the XP Home system) to map the network drive:
Window Explorer > Tools > Map Network Drive
In the file box, I put \\Daddy\XP_n_Vista_Documen
ts_On_G
Received error message:
"The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occured:
The network location could not be reached. For information about network troubleshooting see help"
I am pretty technicle (albiet not networking), and this on is stumping me.

Can you turn off the firewall on all the computers?
When you ping the Vista machine are you pinging "daddy" or the ip address? Does it ping the right ip address when you ping Daddy?
