Question : "TCP/IP network transport is not installed".

I am receiving the following error: "TCP/IP network transport is not installed".  I have looked up the error in your database and found two solutions.  I have tried both and still cannot resolve the issue.  I re-installed Win XP Pro as an upgrade and it did not correct the problem and it obviously did not change mt settings because I still have the same problem.   I have also searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base and only found the two solutions mentioned before that were submitted by your experts. Neither of these solutions worked.  Please let me know if anyone has any other solutions for "TCP/IP network transport is not installed".

I would like to resolve this issue without having to do a clean install, which would wipe out all my software, settings and drivers.  I have another alternative.  XP Pro and my programs are on a SATA drive, which is currently Drive C:; I have all my data on a separate partition, D:.  I have an image of my C: drive and D: Drive, which was made using Drive Image 7 on an IDE drive.   I will list the setup below so it will not be so confusing.

SATA Drive C: contains only XP & Programs  (60 Gigs total space, 35 gigs being used)
SATA Drive D: Contains My Documents and all my Data  (90 Gigs total space, 65 gigs being used)

IDE Drive E: Contains archived photos  (30 total space, 22 gigs being used)
IDE Drive F: Contains images of Drive C: and Drive D:  (80 gigs total, 60 being used)

I would have to purchase another IDE drive in order to restore my images as Drive Image, which I am willing to do.  My concern is whether the settings for TCP/IP are kept with the data in My documents.

Answer : "TCP/IP network transport is not installed".

No, the settings aren't kept in My Documents. They're stored in the Registry, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet.
