Question : Multicast working local, not across subnets

I have an application that will multicast to subscribers on the local and nearby subnets, no more than 1 hop away.

Currently using 239.0.0.1 / 7700. This works correctly among systems on the local subnet, but the traffic is not seen elsewhere.

239 is local scoped - do I need a global scoped address to hop subnets, or is mcast being explicitly blocked at the routers? Our network group is not the most helpful in getting this to work...

Where else might I look to see why the traffic is not getting across?

Any thoughts?

Answer : Multicast working local, not across subnets

Multicast routing will need to be enabled on the routers. Here's a link to how to implement it if you are a cisco shop:
