Question : Autoconfiguration IP Address changes to APIPA(169.254.212...) after about 1 min VPN connection

Same issue as http://www.experts-exchange.com/Networking/Windows_Networking/Q_22730695.html but fix provided (IPEnableRouter parameter setting set to "1" to enable dual NIC routing) had no effect even after rebooting server.

1) Remote PC makes PPTP VPN connection without issue and is assigned IP from server.

2) A continuous ping to Server internal NIC ( ping -t 192.168.16.2) replies back normally for about 1 min after VPN is connected and then stops with a "Request timed out" to all subsequent pings.

3) VPN stays connected and RRAS shows status as active with same IP as originally assigned.

4) About 1 min after the VPN connects the server reports a error from the DHCP (DHCP Event 1007: Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 005345000000.  The IP address being used is 169.254.212.160), The NIC address is the remote PCs reported PPP NIC address.

5) Running 2 IPCONFIG /ALL queries on the server shows the change in Autoconfiguration IP Address:

Initial IPCONFIG /ALL right after VPN connects

PPP adapter RAS Server (Dial In) Interface:
   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
   Description . . . . . . . . . . . : WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface

   NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled

IPCONFIG /ALL ...after about 1 min since the VPN was connected

Any more ideas as to what to look for? I have compared every setting in RRAS and DHCP in this problematic server to an identical server configued the same and all settings are exactly the same (except for domain name).

Answer : Autoconfiguration IP Address changes to APIPA(169.254.212...) after about 1 min VPN connection

Went back to site and converted SBS back to 1 NIC configuration after deleting RRAS and DHCP scopes.

Allowed Wizards to rebuild all.

Rebooted server a few times with issues

Finally reconfigured to 2 NICs again with SBS wizards. This all seems to have fixed the issues and I now have the system operating as before
