Question : Binding a DHCP Server to a particular NIC card
I have a server that lives on our production network. The server has two nic cards installed.
One is connected to our network, it doesnt use DHCP since its a server we gave it a static IP (10.10.1.x). Our DHCP server are for our laptop users (10.10.10.x)
Server is 2003 server R2
This server will be running acronis imaging software and needs to have its own DHCP server to be able to farm out IP's to the laptops being imaged. Essentially I want to take the 2nd NIC card and hook it up to a switch where laptops can get plugged in for imaging. However that second NIC card needs to be configured to provide DHCP IP's on a totally different segment (192.168.x.x)
I'm worried about having to different DHCP servers on my network and blowing things up. How can I isolate the DHCP server to one NIC card only. Does that make sense?
Answer : Binding a DHCP Server to a particular NIC card
In DHCP management console --> Properties of you server --> Advanced (not sure, check last tab) --> bindings --> deselect your desired NIC to unbound.
