Question : Computer Browsing Service
|
|
I have a question about the Computer Browser Service, Should this service be running on 2003 server that are not DC's ? I am getting a Event ID 8003 The master browser has recieved a server announcement from the Server Name that believes it is the master browser for the domain.
I am loosing connection at randoms times on my SQL 2000 box. I think that is why. How does a server loose connection from this error ? I have seen many posts on this subject but none tell me how it will loose connection.
Yes they all have the same Subnet mask

Are you running the PDF app from the DC? That would be strange. What are you running the PDF app from? Where is that box plugged into? obviously: Do a: sh int fa0/x on the 2950 for the port that the SQL box is plugged into. Post results here. Enable snmp on the switch and download something like paessler prtg (free and very easy to set up) then monitor the port/s for several hours/days for eradic behavior. What time on Friday did this happen? What else was going on during this period? Was this during a peak traffic time? Where are you running the sniffer from? Do you have SPAN enabled on the switch?
thanks,
