Question : Error 781 The encryption attempt failed because no valid certificate was found.

Hi

Having problems with a VPN connection, was working a couple of days ago, I think nothing has changed.
Just a standard Win2000 - Network and dialup connections VPN link set up using the wizard.
Connecting to Win2000 server behind a Smoothwall firewall.

Ping [ipaddress] was returning packets a couple of days ago, now returns:
Reply from 202.173.204.248: Destination net unreachable.

Now the interesting thing about that is that is not the IP Address I pinged, that is my ISP's address, hmm...

What gives?

Appreciate your feedback, I wont be able to test this till I get home from work, but I will be able to make any modifications suggested at the destination (work)

Answer : Error 781 The encryption attempt failed because no valid certificate was found.

The ping isn't necessarily an issue, the host may be configured not to reply to ICMP.
Do the host logs show a failed attempt?
