Question : How do I network my computers? Norton seems to be preventing it

I run Windows Vista on 2 computers, and although I can network from my Pc to my laptop, I can't network from my laptop to my PC.
I am pretty sure this is due to my settings on Norton, because when I disbale the firewall it works fine.
I have gone into Norton's advanced settings to try and see any differences in the settings between my laptop and my Pc, but I have not yet cracked it...any advice?

As you say, if you disable the Norton firewall and then it works, the problem must be caused by Norton.

From what I remember, there should be File and Printer sharing exception policy in Norton.  You'd need to add your local subnet (or just the other PC) to this list of allowed computers.  Or the other thing you could do is add the other PC to the list of trusted computers.

Though as an aside, I loath Norton.  While it is probably the nature of my job, it seems that the only time I come across Norton is when it has screwed someone's system completely.  At best it is a huge resource hog and slows systems unacceptably (in my opinion).  I am now a great supporter of Grisoft AVG.  Their products (even their free home edition one) are much less intrusive, and I have never (yet) encountered a system that has become unresponsive due to AVG (unlike Norton).
