Question : Error: Rules on machine dont match server

Hi,

My boss had two of his  machines connected remotely to the same Exchange server mailbox using Outlook and on one of the machines, he got this message:

"The rules on this machine do not match the rules on your Exchange Server. Only one set of rules can be kept. You will usually want to keep the rules on the server.

Which rules do you want to keep?"

He clicked "Server" and apparently found new "tree" of folders on Outlook. The he dragged some mail from one inbox to another...now cannot locate those emails ....either on the remote machines...home pc, laptop nor the office pc.

basically...his personal folders listings all got messed up...Im not clearly exactly how the mails went missing and how it happened on all the machines...

Any idea on how to restore the mails/folder structure?

Answer : Error: Rules on machine dont match server

What if you start one of the Outlook installations without being connected to the network? It may be in an OST file or you may have to recover the items from backup. Im guessing the latter.
