Question : Annoying network heartbeat
|
|
My home LAN is connected via an ISDN router to the my work LAN. It will dial up a connection on demand if it detects traffic destined for the work side LAN.
Even though no programs running on my NT workstation are running, my router keeps dialing up a link with work.
As my PC is the only device on the home-side LAN, what is NT up to - is it some sort of DHCP heartbeat or WINS ?
Help would save me a lot of phone bills

This is *browser* traffic. One option is to *hide* your workstation.
It is somewhere down in Control Panel - Network - ... The traditional way : > NET CONFIG SERVER /HIDDEN:YES
(What can you expect for 50 points ;-))
