Question : WinNt Multihomed router

Hi sirs,

Recently have a problem with a multihomed server(with 2 nics) acting as a router between 2 subnets. I installed RIP for IP in the Network Properties and checked the Enabled Routing check box in the TCPIP protocol part. I can see both subnets at the server itself but cannot see the remote network from the clients. The clients in the local subnet are all pointing their gateway to the near interface. Eg. For networks 192.168.42.0 to 192.168.0.0
default gateway is 192.168.42.1(One of the nic IP address at the server).

By right, this configuration should work. Did I miss out anything? I checked everything which seems OK accept that I cannot ping and see the remote network PCs. Sorry but I'm really desperate for the solution. I understand the configuration from the MCSE textbooks and they should work.

Thanks....Sirs

Answer : WinNt Multihomed router

So they do for me. I suspect, that the other machines on the subnets are misconfigured or ddl76 plugged the client to the wrong switch/hub.
Desmond: you definitely should use 2 clients, one connected to the switch and one connected to the hub with appropriate IP addresses and configuration. And of course the server NICs have to be connected properly.
Regarding the startup errors: reapply the current service pack.
