Question : DNS Question

I'm on a Windows domain with DNS servers. I just set up some helpdesk software for my users to use to report trouble tickets. The software is on a server & its IP is 192.168.5.5. The users access the site by going to http://192.168.5.5:8080
via a web browser. The server name is tickets.mydomain.com which resolves to 192.168.5.5

My question is, is there a way for me to enable my users to be able to open a browser & just type the word HELP & hit enter & it will go to http://192.168.5.5:8080

Thanks

Answer : DNS Question

@ ccpjc That's basically what he did with the "tickets" one.

Unfortunately, there's no way to do this on the server end that I'm aware of because DNS wasn't designed to operate that way.

Adding a hosts file entry might not also work because "help" is not a valid domain, so I doubt it would be processed as a hosts entry.

The closest you can get without hacking the browser up to accommodate this is to change the A record to help.yourdomain.com then after visiting it for the first time, they can just type help and choose the auto complete entry.
