Question : DNS and AD Replication

DNS and AD Replication

I would like to know what DNS and AD Replication is based on.
For Instance IN AD Sites and Services Replication is left to the default 180 minutes, between sites.

Does that mean if I I change a DNS record in SiteA(New York) the change will show up 180 minutes Later in SiteB (Phoenix-AZ)? the same question for AD, if I create a new user account in the DC in SiteA, how long it will take to that account to show in a DC in SiteB?

Thanks

Answer : DNS and AD Replication

In more detail:

There are three types of replication :

1. Normal - just general changes to AD. These will propagate within the same site wihtin 15 seconds (default notification period). Inter-site will be governed by the site links.

2. Urgent - such as account lockouts - immediate notification to other DCs in same site. Inter site is still governed by site links.

3. Immediate - this is basically password changes to the PDC emulator. This is immediate both intra and inter site - the site links are ignored. This is necessary as the PDC emulator needs to know all passwords straight away as it used for password referals when logging on.
