Question : Cannot add new Domain Controller
I am attempting to add a new DC in an existing domain and am getting the error "The version of the Active Directory Schema of the source forest is not compatable with the version of Active Directory on the computer" The existing DC is Windows 2003 SP2. The one I am attempting to add is Windows 2003 R2.
I have verified that the existing DC has all of the FSMO roles (I had to seize them from a DC that is no longer on the domain).
NSLOOKUP could not find the DNS server but I created a new reverse lookup zone and stopped netlogon, did ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /registerdns and re-started the netlogon. The nslookup is working now. The existing DC and the server that I am attempting to make a DC show up in the reverse zone.
I cannot do an upgrade of the existing DC to R2 because it states that I must do a new install.
I am at wits end on this one.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Answer : Cannot add new Domain Controller
You need to run the ADPREP command that is on the SECOND CD of the R2 set. R2 Schema is DIFFERENT from original release.
