- i can ping from computer 2 to computer 1. (networking ok)
- on pc1 i shared entire disk d. (new disk)
- when i browse to computers in same workgroup, after i while i get no results.
- when i try to browse with the explorer on pc2 to \\current-ip-address-of-pc

Answer : cannot see shares on xp
Well test it>
disable endpoint protection, and reboot. See if it comes up under "My Network Places".
I believe you have a software firewall, like endpoint protection or Windows firewall blocking netbios broadcasts.
