Question : SMTP Qiestions
Hello all,
I have a question regarding SMTP servers. I have one set up for my company and many of my users like to use hotmail.com or gmail.com to send and recieve their emails I wanted to know in the strucutre of SMTP protocal how the email is sent out from lets say gmail.com or hotmail.com when the user send an email with my domain.
Does the email come to my server then it is sent out from there or does gmail or hotmial send it from there side??
The reason for my question is becuase I want to start to store everyemail sent out of my domain name.
Answer : SMTP Qiestions
Nope not at all. If the user logs into hotmail.com and access their emails via the web browser then Your SMTP servers are not figured in the equation at all. At no point does SMTP traffic flow through your network if they do this.
