Question : W2K Server, Win98 Clients, NT Domain & DNS Config Problem
|
|
This is a second try. The previous time I screwed up my W2K server I just re-installed it from scratch and the problem no longer matched the original description.
I've setup a home network with 3 Win98se clients and a Win2000 Advanced server. The server is connected to the internet through a DSL modem.
Separate from this network, I have a web site that is virtually hosted elsewhere. This site is called 'dcgames.com' (www.dcgames.com).
I have two problems, both probably related.
a) The clients can't log on to the NT domain. I get "no domain server is available to validate your password" or some such.
b) DNS translation is NOT occuring. I have to manually configure external DNS addresses on the clients in order to be able to go on the internet, so the local DNS is either not being found, not forwarding the queries, etc.

Hi dcgames,
Me again. very challenging.
NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the intranet, LAN CON 1 Intel PCI needs to be enabled ! This should get your Win98 clients logon to the domain.
