Question : SME ADSL and EMail redundancy approach

I run a small business that was severely impacted by a recent ADSL outage. We run an Exchange server on SBS 2003. Our domain host sends us  our email to our server on a static IP. If our server is unavailable, we utilize the services of a company called DNSMadeEasy, which acts as our backup DNS. The problem we had was that when our ADSL went down, our email was trapped on the backup server until our mail server with the static IP came back up. I would like to find a solution that allows us to retrieve our email should we need to quickly switch to a backup ADSL solution. Any ideas as to the approach to take?

Answer : SME ADSL and EMail redundancy approach

Assuming your backup ADSL doesn't go at the same time as your primary ADSL then you should be able, in advance, create two DNS MX records; one for each ADSL connection. Then you will require a WAN faiover device that will route traffic from either ADSL to your mailserver.
I use Sonicwall but other firewall devices have similar function. http://www.sonicwall.com/

If all your office connectivity is out then the problem you have is that you want to access your mail while your main line/server is out, from home users/offices. Then when it is back online you want all mail from your backup server to replay into your main server. N'est pas?

This is difficult to achieve. I have recently been looking at NeverFail but have not yet had time to test.
