Question : How can I force my routing table to try one route before the other

I have 2 NICs in my PC, one connected to a broadband router and the other to my LAN. I do not log in to the domain, but just connect my PC to the LAN to obtain IP via DHCP. My broadband router also issue IP using DHCP. My problem is that if I disconnect my broadband router, I a able to access things like e-mail using the LAN, but the moment I plug my broadband link in all request for services try to use the broadband router and therefore fail. I have checked the routing tabe on th local PC and the brodband route is at the top. I was thinking if I could make it second then this might help.
Another problem is since I donot log in to the domain, I cannot reolve dns names, so I am having to use IPs. I sthere a local host file n Vista I could update with details of the host---IPs.
Thanks

They choose routes according to the lowest metric at the end of the routes, and the table is processed from the bottom line to the top line.

For the second problem, a local domain should be running a WINS server... put that info in the Advanced TCP settings of any adapter on the WINS tab. (it's global, so if you put it in one they all see it.) You shouldn't need to be logged in the domain to use WINS. HOSTS and LMHOSTS go in the %windir%\system32\drivers\etc folder... look there and you should find some SAMple files.
