Question : System error 51 on 2k3DCs when running NET VIEW

Hello all and thanks in advance for your help.

Receiving the following error on 2k3 DC (or any machine on the network for that matter) when running NET VIEW.  And yes file and print sharing is on.  Any takers?

Windows cannot find the network path. Verify that the network path is correct an
d the destination computer is not busy or turned off. If Windows still cannot fi
nd the network path, contact your network administrator.

Answer : System error 51 on 2k3DCs when running NET VIEW

The computer that was elected the Master Browser on your network is not reachable.  Or you are running WINS and tthe WINS server is not reachable.    This particular error happens most often when the target NETBIOS host is only partially reachable.  That is, some - but not all - TCP and UDP ports on the target host are being blocked, usually by a mis-configured firewall.  It can also happen if the machines have a mis-matched network broadcast mask or subnet settings, causing multiple Master Browser hosts to be elected on the same LAN.
