Question : Why Lease 1 x 4M fibre vs 4 x 1M ADSL?

Hi
I work at a school, across 2 sites.  We lease fibre connectivity, through MPLS, across the 2 sites.  The MPLS config results in a 4M fibre connection between the 2 sites and a shared 4M Internet Connection.

We wish to upgrade so that Site B has its own incoming Internet connection (it is currently channeled via our site-to-site connectivity).

The prices for fibre connectivity are around 10 times more expensive than, say, ADSL.

In our case, the new MPLS proposal is:
Site A - Site B point-to-point circuit, 4M = 1800 per month
Site A dedicated Internet = 3000 per month
Site B dedicated Internet = 3000 per month

The same Internet provider also offers ADSL:

Broadband Education - no threshold, 2M = 150 per month

You can guess the question...
What are we getting with fibre/MPLS that we can't get with ADSL?
Why wouldn't we simply acquire multiple ADSL connections...and save a lot of money?
It can't simply be about contention, can it?

Thanks and hear from you soon

that's mostly what you are paying for. for your target market DSL might work but you have to make that call. In enterprise 2900 to have 99.999 is worth it if they would lose more money then that if the line went down. For the most part you shouldn't see much performance difference.
