Question : Some WiFi messes up my network when I return to office

There are a couple of WiFi spots that ALWAYS screw up my computer when I return to the office.  Basically what happens is that I connect to the WiFi and all is well.   When I return to the office with the laptop and try to access ANY network resource, it tells me that it is inaccessible.  This includes printers, mapped network shares, other workstations, servers, etc.  I CAN access them by IP, but NOT by the mapped name or the fully qualified server path.  This has happened on my last TWO laptops, so it's not a hardware issue.   I can fix it by doing a System Restore, so I'm guessing something gets fouled up in the registry   The place it happens 100% of the time is our local hospital, which has limited public wifi (you are taken to a screen which makes you agree to a bunch of conditions - and they block a lot of stuff).   I contacted their IT folks and they politely told me that I was crazy, but it happens EVERY time.  I can connect to other WiFi without a problem.   This has happened to me on both Vista and XP machines.   I log into a domain at work and a workgroup at home.  Both home and work are messed up.  I've tried IPCONFIG "stuff", including flushing the DNS cache.   I'm stumped.  I can't find any evidence that anyone else has this problem.   Anyone have any suggestions?

Answer : Some WiFi messes up my network when I return to office

I see the disconnect option now.  Thanks!  I will create the CMD file and give it a try next Tuesday.  Just 'cuz they have made me totally paranoid, I'll create a system restore point AND image the whole computer before I go there!

Thanks, guys.. this was really helpful!    I'll split the points...

Have a great weekend!
