Question : How to break username and password in Cisco 2900 Switches?

We have a Cisco catalyst switch 2900 model with 16 ports. The previous system administrator has implemented some username and password on this switch. Now when I want to reconfigure the switch, I can not get into the switch. It prompts for username which we don't know. I tried to break the Boot sequence thereby to skip the startup config file. But I could not break the boot sequence even by pressing the Ctrl+Break key sequence. It straight away boots.How to break the username and get into the switch? I know that in some other vendors' switches like Alcatel have default username and password. Is there anything like that in Cisco Switches?
