Question : Want to enable scavening, but afraid to delete SRV records b/c time stamp is not updates.

Hello everyone,

So my DNS has gotten a tad messy, here is scenario:

6 DCs
DNS AD Integrated
6 Subnets
Reverese Lookup Zone configured for all subnets

I have some stale records lingering in my DNS and I want them removed.
My fear is upon configuring scavenging I hear that they will remove the multitude of SRV Records whos time stamp has not been updates for months and months.

I am not sure why these SRV records have these old time stamps, but I dont want them deleted if they are deleted (they have names of the DCs etc)

So questions:
1. Will these get deleted with scavening enabled?
2. If so, how do I have them updated consistantly on their own (so many to check)
3. Let me know what you guys think of this.

Thank you!

Answer : Want to enable scavening, but afraid to delete SRV records b/c time stamp is not updates.

Yes SRV can be scavenged too,  have those DC's been rebooted in those months.  Just trying to figure out why they are not updating.

You can uncheck the "delete this record when it becomes stale" -- but like you said that is a lot to check.

Restarting netlogon will register the SRV records again.
