Question : DNS Scavenging Not working
I have set the Server Aging / Scavenging Properties to 7 days (both the no refresh and refresh value) on both my DC's and on all relevant objects within the DNS MMC but despite this I still find old records in both the forward and reverse lookup zones. A manual scavenge deletes them OK and there are no errors in either Event log to suggest a cause.
Why might the automatic scavenging not be working?
System Setup
W2003 SP2
2 x DC's
Thanks,
Ian
Answer : DNS Scavenging Not working
Silly question, but did you actually enable Automatic Scavenging? If so, what Period did you set?
Just in case, it's configured in the DNS Console under the Properties for the Server, in the Advanced tab.
