Question : Remote password change notification

HI

We have a number of remote users with Windows 2000 SP4 and XP that connect via VPN to sync Email etc. We use NT4 SP6a and Exch 5.5.
What we would like is for the users to receive notifications that their domain password will expire in 'n' days. At present because they are not authenticated at the point where they Ctrl, Alt and Delete to log on to their notebook, They do not receive password will expire notifications. IS there a way to do this just for our remote users? At present the users don't know to change the password until the account is locked out.
Our other issue is that the Passwords for Initail Logon and Email become 'out of sync' as they aren't always logging onto the domain in the office, but have seen articles where once the password for Outlook has been changed the cached credentials can be updated by Locking the laptop, then unlocking with the new password.

What would be nice is that once authenticated on the vpn, the password change notification box pops up asking the user to change the password, then once done, updates the cached credentials automatically.

Hope someone can help

Tim

Answer : Remote password change notification

You could use email notification for password expiration:

here you go, use PEWA, it comes in the exchange 2000 ressource kit.. also works with exchange 2000/2003
