Question : Cisco IPM & SAA - Need Info!

The powers that be are seeking a solution to monitor performance metrics between multiple servers.  For example, they want to monitor traffic between Server B and Server M.  Or they want to monitor bandwidth from Server A to Server D.  Is Cisco IPM/SAA the best solution to implement?  I've been researching them for a couple hours and what I've read so far says that they monitor performance metrics between a source router and a target device (server, workstation, etc.).  Does that mean IPM/SAA isn't able to be used to monitor perf. metrics between two "target devices" (ie. server to server)?

Is there an easier solution to check on what they're looking for?

Also, is it possible to use SAA on a Cisco 4506 with a Sup3?  Sup5?

That is a packet analyzer. With appropriate filters you can certainly watch traffic server-to-server, but it might run out of buffer space before you can get really good data.
Here's the "book" on SAA, specific to VoIP, but can be adapted to any traffic

Given that the 4500 is running IOS, it should be supported on that platform.
"SAA is an integrated feature of all Cisco IOS software-based platforms."
