Question : novell ftp

hello someone was able to get into the ftp and upload file sto a location that they only =allow downloding from except certain people. The problem is there are a couple of folders that were put there that can not be deleted, also is there a way to find out who put them there?

Are they on a NetWare server?  Where on the server (SYS or other?)

In Console One, you should be able to access the attributes of the folder even if you can't using Windoze Exploder.  It will show you the owner of the file, too.  If it is an ID on the system, cool, but if this was done through an exploit, it may have unknown ID.

If it was done through an exploit, you need to find out what version of the FTP server is running and if it's not current, get them updated to the latest NWFTPD update.  Also check for any other security-related patches that might apply.  Then, verify that they didn't leave any holes in how their FTPREST.TXT is configured, and if they're on NW6.5, have them seriously consider only allowing SFTP (FTP through SSH.)
