Question : How hacker-safe is sending sensitive info by web-email programs?.

If Someone is sending sensitive info like SSN by email, is it safe? Do you take the risk that no one will peek or are there are lot of folks trying to break into hotmail, yahoo, gmail emails to look for any information of interest.

Answer : How hacker-safe is sending sensitive info by web-email programs?.

Sensitive data should be encrypted locally by the sender and decrypted locally by the recipient.

I have used PGP in the past and prefer that method to any other.
