Question : Microsoft Outlook 2003 not showing correct received time and date on emails

Hi,
This is my first time posting here, so please correct me if my post could be better :D

I have a customer that is using a standalone Windows XP Pro SP3 PC.

The issue is that a couple of programs running under Windows are seemingly having problems recognizing the correct time and date.

The main programs that are having issue are Microsoft Outlook 2003 and MYOB Payroll 2009.9.

With Outlook the problem is only effecting the received emails.
Outlook is receiving emails via POP3 from a Server that we host, I have checked the times on the Server and the PC in question, including all regional options.
The emails that are received show in the inbox as 1 day and 5 hours before it was actually received (So sent at 3:26pm on the 21/07/09 and it shows received 8:26pm on the 20/07/09). All sent emails and the calendar have the correct time including emails received by recipients.

The other  program that is also having issue MYOB Payroll 2009, has issues when payslips for the employees are processed. The time also shows the day before.

I haven't had much luck researching this issue hence why I am posting.

Thanks in advance.

Answer : Microsoft Outlook 2003 not showing correct received time and date on emails

Have a look at the time zone setup on your pc, and make sure it matches the time zone you live in. Outlook just read the time as it's written in the headers, and shows it in the time zone setup on the pc, so that's likely the problem. This would affect other softwares too, since some time related windows functions rely on the time zone to do their calculations.
