Question : ZENWorks 7.0 Middle Tier Servers - How Many and Where
My school district is getting ready to setup ZENWorks 7.0 and I have some questions that I hope someone can help with. Our district consists of 75 sites, each one having it's own Novell server. 20 of the 75 have their own Windows server. When it comes to my Middle Tier servers, how many do I need and were should they be located? I know there are a lot of pieces missing in my explaination that I may be able to fill in if the questions are asked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that, although middle-tier can run on Windows server 2000 and up, you don't want your middle-tier server to be on the same box as an AD domain controller that also has eDirectory.
Also keep in mind that middle-tier server can run quite nicely on SuSE Linux Enterprise 9 (default install type) and if I'm not mistaken, ZEN7 comes with SLES9. If licensing is more of a concern than hardware, that's the most logical way to go. Single-task some commodity PC's as middle-tier authentication servers.
