Question : Internet Exloper only loads google!?!

I've just finished building a PC. I installed WinXP and set up the LAN which I use to connect to thie internet. For some reason, Internet Explorer will only load the Google site. ANY other site just won't load. It say "Opening page http://www.-------.com/" and just stays like that. This is very strange as I can't work out why Google would work but other sites wouldn't. Please help!
