Question : How will I be able to view my own SSID if SSID Broadcasting is Disabled within The Router?
|

Hi Everyone:
I am in the process of getting ready to set up a transparent wireless connection. I got the idea along from PC Magazine which also gives the breakdown of the mechanics of setting such a connection up. The whole purpose of this setup will allow my SSID to not be seen on other nearby wireless connections. So, if a person on a nearby wireless went to View Available Wireless Networks, my SSID will not be displayed.
While all of this sounds good from a security point of view, I do wonder how I will be able to view my own SSID from my wireless pc. Will it be invisible to me as well? Or, will I need to carry out some special procedures to view my own SSID?
Thanks in advance for any attention given to this question.

the SSId will be invisiable to everyone including you. what you have to do is setup the wireless connection manually. normally when its broadcast and can be found you can connect to it. right click on the wireless connection (either bottom right of systray) or in control panel/network connections and go to properties then click on the wirelss tab and click on Add - ther wou can type in the hiiden SSid and all the other details.
