Question : can't access vista shared folder

I have three laptops running vista.  One has a shared folder.  I can access the shared folder form one of the other vista laptops, but not from the third one.

So far I have made sure that all have the same workgroup and that the same user names and passwords are on the laptops.

I saw advice that I may need to start the workstation service.  But trying that gives me a message that there are dependencies that have to start, and I cannot find a way to start those dependencies - they're not in the service list.
