Question : Cisco Carrier Detect problem

I have a question about the carrier detect light on cisco 800 series. We use the cisco router for our point to point connect. The last one was fried in an apparent surge. I reprogrammed the new router, but i get no carrier detect when i plug in the cable. Is this a programming issue or an acual DSL issue...I wasn't sure if a router will light up automatically if the DSL cable is plugged in.

agree with Lrmoore.  You are most likely set to 0x2142 or a different config-register setting.

To change:

configure terminal
config-register 0x2102

And then reboot - this will boot the startup config
